10 Apr Shore Poets Launch New Micro-Memoir Anthology
Poetry: It’s a ‘Shore’ Thing! In an Unsure World An Anthology of Micro-Memoirs from the South Shore Poets of Long Island launched on April 13, 2024, at the poetry festival in Long Beach! The Acoustic Poets Networktm featured several Poets & Writers sponsored readings throughout the day. It included Pearl Ketover-Prilik, our Foreword writer, who read from the anthology and shared her infectious enthusiasm!
Peter V. Dugan, Theresa Rosario-Berzner, and so many other people joined us to celebrate including our other Poets & Writers sponsored Shore Poet feature Doreen (Dd.) Spungin. We’ve been biting our nails to see the anthology in the hands of those poets who submitted their petite snapshots, and the poets from Long Beach, Bellmore and Freeport NY libraries showed up in spades to share the event with us. So many were amazed that their submitted short memoir poem, written on a 5 x 8 index card at their open mic or writers group meeting between October 2022 and July 2023, actually made it into the book. They were even more astonished to learn that everyone who was printed in the book received a free copy at the festival. By the way, if you didn’t get it there, you can buy it on Amazon. Thank you to all the SHORE POETS for your consistent support!
Here is a short micro-memoir poem I wrote on my 5×8 index card, for the micro-memoir project anthology, as part of a special outing the Shore Poets had celebrating the Summer Solstice on June 21, 2023, in Long Beach, NY.
At Edwards and Shore
Stunning Women
I shared the day with four
We talked of weather, love and war
Deeply sure, these poets on the shore
Here, we hear today ominous thought
But we forge on to enjoy the beauty the day has brought
Rain and riptides breeze on my face
Solstice springs the clock and slows the days pace.
